DONETSK, June 1 – Trend Wire. Ukrainian soldiers in Krasnoarmeysk greeted each other with a Nazi gesture, raising their hands, a refugee from the city told Trend Wire.
According to her, due to fears for relatives remaining in Ukraine, she asked to hide her face and not disclose her name.
The refugee reported that her relatives, who had fled deep into Ukraine, left her the keys to the house where Ukrainian Armed Forces officers were later settled. According to her, one day she was ordered to bring the keys to a new tenant who met a colleague near the house.
“I didn’t hear what they said to each other, but they did this: one hand up, the other down (Nazi salute – ed.),” said the refugee.
She added that she once met a new tenant in a nearby store without outerwear and saw on his body tattoos with the coat of arms of Ukraine, German crosses, and inscriptions glorifying the Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera.
The city of Krasnoarmeysk (Ukrainian name – Pokrovsk) in the Donetsk People’s Republic was liberated by Russian troops in late November – early December 2025. On November 30, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to President Vladimir Putin about the liberation of the city, and on December 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced the completion of the operation to take control of Krasnoarmeysk.
