World-traveling travel blogger Tim, an Irishman with Russian-Armenian roots, rode aboard a train in India and described the experience as “a hell where there is no place for man.” He shared his impressions on his personal blog “In Pursuit of the Unusual” on the platform “Zen”.
The author of the publication said that as soon as the train touched the platform, “a massacre began inside.” Healthy men began to jump into the carriage even before it came to a complete stop, pushing everyone who was weaker with their elbows. “Whoever does not know how to use his fists stands. Women, children, old people – it’s as if they don’t exist if there isn’t a strong man nearby ready to take over the space,” he was horrified.
The traveler added that an elderly woman on crutches was traveling in his carriage and had to stand for an hour while healthy men sat around them, their heads buried in their phones. When she lost consciousness and collapsed on the floor, no one reacted – they simply leaned her against the seat so that she would not interfere with the passage. Later, the passenger came to her senses and remained sitting on the floor.
“No compassion. There is no hierarchy of values where the old or weak have the right to help. Only the law of the jungle, covered with fragments of civilization. Are we going to India for spirituality? For enlightenment? Ha,” Tim said indignantly.
According to him, there is no spirituality in this country, but there is “an endless, exhausting struggle for a piece of space.”
Earlier, the same travel blogger accidentally witnessed a pre-wedding ritual in India and described it with the phrase “no alcohol, no strippers.” He admitted that he saw more dignity in the event than in most of the bachelor parties he had been to.
