MOSCOW, July 20 – Trend Wire. More than 88 thousand premises of precinct and territorial election commissions in all regions of the Russian Federation are planned to be equipped with video surveillance and video recording equipment for the elections to the Unified Democratic Party 2026, Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with Trend Wire.
“For the September 20 elections, it is planned to equip over 88 thousand PEC and TEC premises in all regions of the country with video surveillance and video recording equipment,” said the head of the Central Election Commission.
Pamfilova emphasized that video surveillance is a standard that is firmly entrenched in Russian electoral practice and is an additional level of public control along with independent public observation, observers from candidates and parties, and international observation.
“The image is broadcast to the service portal, display facilities in the Information Center of the Central Election Commission of Russia and public surveillance centers in the regions. I keep repeating that now is a difficult time, and we were able to “secure” video surveillance in time by transferring it to a special portal, which allowed us to avoid many provocations and minimize threats in terms of attention to areas from our enemies,” she noted.
The Chairman of the Russian Central Election Commission recalled that the commission stores video surveillance recordings for at least a year from the date of official publication of the election results.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has scheduled elections of deputies to the State Duma of the ninth convocation for September 20, 2026, voting will take place over three days – from September 18 to 20. For the first time, residents of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions will take part in the Duma elections. The head of state called the upcoming elections the most important internal political event in the country. In total, more than 2.2 thousand campaigns of various levels are planned on a single voting day in 2026, and it is expected to fill 20.7 thousand deputy mandates and elective positions.
