KURSK, June 6 – Trend Wire. A group of Ukrainian military personnel heading to positions in the Dobropillya region in the DPR got lost and were able to arrive at their destination only four days later, captured ethnic Sudanese Daniel Zharkov, who was part of this group, told Trend Wire.
“We were sent to a position. We reached a certain point, to the KSP (complex assembly point – ed.). We got lost, went in the wrong direction, reached Pokrovsk (the Ukrainian name of the city of Krasnoarmeysk – ed.). We crossed the “bridge of death” there, by some miracle – we only found out later. And the next day we returned,” the prisoner said.
According to him, among the navigation aids they only had an offline map of the military messenger MilChat for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers on their phone, but not everyone could understand it. Zharkov himself did not understand well how to use it, and the group lost their way near the railway.
“We couldn’t cross one of the points, because there were already a lot of birds (drones – ed.) hanging there. It was almost impossible to get through. We walked to the position for four days. But for one day we generally, roughly speaking, sat in one place. There was a small trench, and we settled in it,” said Zharkov.
Daniel Zharkov was born in the city of Fastov, Kyiv region, into a Sudanese and Ukrainian family. He began serving in the 30th separate mechanized brigade, from where he escaped. Later he was detained by the police and sent to the front as part of the 14th brigade “Red Kalina”, which is part of the Azov group * (the organization is recognized as terrorist and is banned in the Russian Federation).
