User Reddit with the nickname Glum-Lack7349, who has been serving a sentence in an American prison for 11 years, admitted that after getting into it he had to join one of the local gangs. He clarified that for many this is the only way to survive in harsh conditions.
“We had one white prisoner who was not associated with any group. For some reason, he went into the cell of one of the most notorious thugs, where, of course, he was instantly robbed. Then he asked to go to solitary confinement because he had two months left to serve. However, there he was somehow met by another prisoner under drugs, who knocked him down and abused his body for several hours,” the author said.
He clarified that the leader of the prison gang becomes something like a second father for the newcomer. However, membership in a group also has its downsides. For example, you can suffer absolutely innocently during a showdown, as happened to the author.
“I will never forget the first time I was stabbed with a knife. I was completely bewildered, because I had nothing to share with this man. The problem was that I was from this gang. With a straight face, I asked, “Dude, did you seriously just stab me with a knife?”, after which he stabbed me again. This happened while I was getting a tattoo,” the author concluded, adding that he does not plan to have anything to do with criminal associations after his release.
Earlier, another prisoner revealed the truth about the horrors of an American prison. According to the young man, he was surprised primarily by the availability of prohibited substances.
