At SPIEF 2026, sports took a special place on the forum’s business agenda. Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, held an international session on the future of the Olympic movement, and registration for the 14th international forum “Russia is a Sports Power” opened at the “House of Sports” stand. About how the sports day went at the main economic forum of the country – in the Lenta.ru photo gallery.
Degtyarev said that Russia’s place in world sports is deserved not only by its results, but also by its historical role – and no political decisions in recent years will change this. Task number one, he said, is the full restoration of Russian athletes’ rights and return to the Olympic Games. The minister also outlined global challenges for the Olympic movement: young audiences are migrating to the digital environment, the cost of hosting the Games is rising, and sport is increasingly becoming an arena of political conflicts.
At the “House of Sports” stand, Russian Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov opened registration for the forum “Russia – a sports power”, which will be held in Krasnoyarsk from October 21 to 23. The city was chosen based on the results of a competitive selection – major international competitions have already been held here, including the Winter Universiade. Degtyarev concluded the ceremony briefly: “Welcome. Let’s get started” – and was the first to register for the forum.
