Several impacts have been reported in St. Petersburg, among others. An oil terminal and a military base were hit there, Ukrainian President Zelensky confirmed on X. Images show plumes of smoke above the city.

The oil depot “supports the war,” Zelensky writes. An arms manufacturer in the Tambov region has also been attacked. The targets are hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

The Russian Defense Ministry reports that several drones have been downed in the western Kursk region, near Moscow and near the Sea of ​​Azov. According to the Russian state news agency Tass, this concerns at least 354 drones.

A bus carrying civilians was reportedly hit by a Ukrainian drone attack in Donetsk province. Seven people were killed and eleven injured, local authorities in the Russian-occupied territory reported. There is no independent confirmation of this.

Ukraine reports several attacks on various places in Donetsk, including on an ammunition and drone storage and on an “enemy command post and observation post”, the Ukrainian army writes on Telegram.

It also said it hit the port of Kronstadt, west of St. Petersburg. Warships and infrastructure were reportedly hit by the attack. The Ukrainian army has released images showing a warship being hit.

On X the army writes that the ship then caught fire. Reuters news agency was able to verify the location of the stricken frigate, the corvette Boiky. The extent of the damage is still being investigated.

SPIEF, Russia’s annual International Economic Forum, which is seen as the “Russian Davos”, kicks off today in St. Petersburg. According to the city’s governor, there is damage, but no injuries. The attacks are said to be aimed at disrupting the multi-day forum where President Putin is also expected later.

The motto of this year’s conference is “Pragmatic Dialogue – The Road to a Stable Future”. According to the Ukrainian security service, the SBU, Russia is “once again showing its unwillingness to enter into a pragmatic dialogue” about an end to the war against Ukraine.

Therefore, Russia can expect a “stable future in the form of regular fires in refineries, oil depots and terminals,” the SBU wrote. “The longer Russia chooses war instead of peace, the more often the facilities that make war possible will go up in flames.”

Meanwhile, NATO chief Rutte and the ambassadors of all 32 NATO countries are visiting the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, a day after Russian air strikes on several Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv.

The visit was not announced. The arrival of the delegations was shared in a social media post by the Ukrainian railway company, but then quickly deleted.

Rutte will speak to President Zelensky in Kyiv and is also expected to give a press conference.
