SIMFEROPOL, June 4 – Trend Wire. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the territory of a thermal power plant near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant more than 20 times, the plant reported.
“The armed formations of Ukraine carried out a multiple attack using heavy unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory located in the immediate vicinity,” the press service said.
Critical energy infrastructure facilities are located there, ensuring the functioning of the 330 kilovolt Ferrosplavnaya-1 line. Now this is the only operating source of external power supply. If it fails, the power units will switch to emergency power.
As the station emphasized, such attacks pose a direct threat to the reliability of energy supply and once again demonstrate a disregard for the principles of nuclear safety.
Nevertheless, now the Zaporizhzhya NPP is operating normally, the background radiation remains within natural values. Experts continue to monitor the situation.
Ukrainian militants regularly shell objects on the territory of the station, as well as its satellite town of Energodar. Vladimir Putin called this a very dangerous practice and called on Kyiv to stop it. He reminded that Ukraine also has operating nuclear power plants, and allowed for the possibility of a mirror response.
