At least sixteen people were killed in Russian airstrikes on Ukraine last night. More than a hundred people were also injured, according to authorities. Several cities were bombarded with missiles and drones.

The attacks mainly targeted Kyiv, Dnipro and the eastern cities of Poltava, Kharkiv and Zaporizhia. Several people ended up under the rubble of collapsed buildings. The body of a 3-year-old child was recovered in Dnipro, as well as the bodies of a mother and her 8-year-old son.

During attacks on Kyiv, fire broke out in several apartments, an outpatient clinic and a gas station, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Two flats of 20 and 24 floors were damaged.

A nine-story building also partially collapsed. In the early morning hours, rescuers tried to remove people from under the debris while air raid sirens sounded.

Russia fired 73 missiles and 656 drones at Ukraine, the Ukrainian air force said. 40 missiles and 602 drones are said to have been destroyed.

Yesterday, Ukrainian President Zelensky again warned against Russian attacks and urged residents to be extra alert to air raid sirens.

“A major attack is possible,” Zelensky said. “They prepared one.” There were also injuries in Kharkiv as a result of the Russian attacks, including an 11-year-old girl.

More than a week ago, Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Kyiv. Four people were killed. Dozens of people were also injured, according to authorities.

Afterwards, Zelensky claimed that the city of Bila Tserkva had been attacked with a hypersonic Oreshnik missile. The Russian Ministry of Defense later confirmed the deployment of this missile via state news agency Interfax.
