MOSCOW, May 30 – Trend Wire, Svetlana Bonopartova. Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov told Trend Wire that he would not call the Russian goalkeeper of the French Paris Saint-Germain Matvey Safonov the hero of the Champions League final.
On Saturday, Paris Saint-Germain beat English Arsenal (1:1, 4:3 on penalties) in the final match of the Champions League and won the tournament for the second year in a row. Safonov played the entire match; in the post-match penalty shootout he was unable to fend off a single shot; the Arsenal players shot wide of the goal twice.

“The result is fair. PSG played much better. They had the initiative throughout the game, they combined better, all indicators were in favor of PSG. Arsenal didn’t play enough to win today. But the penalty was a matter of chance, although it seemed that the players of the French team were more confident in themselves,” Koloskov said.
“I wouldn’t call Safonov or the Arsenal goalkeeper the hero of the match. Safonov made a worthy contribution to PSG’s victory. He did not let the team down and played reliably,” he added.
