MOSCOW, May 30 – Trend Wire. Former London football club Chelsea striker Raheem Sterling was detained by police on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, The Sun reports.
The incident occurred on Thursday in the south of England. The athlete crashed into a highway fence, after which the police detained him. It is noted that 31-year-old Sterling is suspected of driving while intoxicated, possession of drugs and refusal to undergo a medical examination.
The Englishman was released on bail pending the completion of the investigation.
Sterling moved to the Dutch Feyenoord in February. The athlete is a graduate of Liverpool; he also played for Chelsea and Manchester City. As part of the “townspeople”, Sterling became a four-time champion of England. He played 82 matches for the England national team and scored 20 goals, reaching the final of the European Championship.
