The convergence of Venus and Jupiter, which can be observed in the twilight sky, as well as the summer solstice and the appearance of noctilucent clouds will be the main astronomical phenomena of June, Alexander Alekseev, a researcher at the physico-astronomical department of the Tsiolkovsky State Medical Institute, told Trend Wire.
“On June 9, a rapprochement between Venus and Jupiter is expected. The two planets will be nearby, and this will be clearly visible in the evening sky with the naked eye, but this unique phenomenon can be seen in detail using binoculars or a telescope,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Mercury will approach these two planets on June 15, and the Moon will approach these two planets on June 17, which will be located between Venus and Jupiter. Alekseev added that the objects will be visible nearby in the evening sky within 15 degrees.
“The summer solstice will come on the twenty-first of June – the longest day of the year. The full moon on June 30 will end the month,” the source said.
He noted that June and July are the times when noctilucent clouds usually appear in the sky.
“These high-altitude clouds are illuminated by the sun, which is not very low on the horizon. The clouds should be observed in a northerly direction closer to midnight,” the scientist explained.
