Two female participants say against the BBC(opens in new window) that they were raped during the recording of the TV program. Channel 4 has removed all seasons of the hit TV show.

Another woman reported a sexual act without consent. All three women told the BBC that the program had done too little to protect them.

The three women come up with various accusations against the men with whom they were linked in the program. They started talking to the BBC because they wanted to be better protected. One of them says the production company behind the program should stop “allowing people to be harmed.”

According to the BBC, broadcaster Channel 4 was aware of some of the allegations before broadcast.

A woman says her television husband raped her and threatened her with an acid attack. She wants to take legal action against production company CPL.

A second woman reported to both Channel 4 and CPL before the broadcast that she had been raped by her television husband. But the episodes in which she played a role were broadcast nevertheless.

A third woman accuses her television husband of sexual misconduct.

Channel 4 has said it received “serious allegations” of misconduct against a small number of participants in April. According to the broadcaster, they contradict the accusations. Channel 4’s CEO does not comment on the content of the allegations.

“We take these issues very seriously and are committed to ensuring we continue to lead the sector in our duty of care to participants,” she said. All previous seasons of MAFS UK have been pulled from streaming services and TV channels “to avoid speculation or identifying those involved”.

CPL’s lawyers say the standards for participant welfare are excellent and the correct action has been taken in all cases.
